Kelly and Steinman Cut Glass Catalog

ACGA Reproduction Catalogs from Cut Glass Manufacturers

Kelly and Steinman catalog cover

This Kelly & Steinman catalog reprint was originally produced by Warren and Teddie Biden in 2012 working with several collaborators including the Deposit (New York) Historical Society. The Bidens offered the catalog for sale for several years through the House of Brilliant Glass website. After Warren passed, Teddie generously decided to make this rare catalog broadly available in digital form to the cut glass community.

The original catalog was likely produced not long after the company relocated to Deposit, New York, from Honesdale, Pennsylvania, in about 1911 due to labor issues. No catalogs are known from the earlier operation period (c. 1895-1911) in Honesdale, when the company operated as both Gibbs, Kelly & Co. and Kelly & Steinman, Inc. The company often used Dorflinger blanks, but other blank suppliers also appear possible. The catalog illustrates over 80 designs including multiple examples in the better known Peerless, Raleigh, and Windsor designs, along with an important chalice vase example in the Norway design. This catalog reprint also shows copies of many original period advertisements and photographs for surviving examples, including two monumental cut glass vases. This catalog is a significant addition to the ACGA library, and we believe you will find it highly educational.
