The Empire Chapter
The Empire Chapter is the oldest chapter of ACGA. Formed in 1985 in Beacon, NY, it was the pioneer in the concept of having regional chapters. The purpose of all ACGA chapters is to have a better, closer relationship among ACGA members in quest of acquiring knowledge about American Cut Glass. You must be a member of ACGA to belong to a Chapter.
The Empire Chapter is largely a socially functioning group, having meetings four times yearly (March, June, September, December). Our primary area of participation comes from Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the metropolitan area in and around New York City, the Hudson River Valley of New York, and Connecticut. Our geographic epicenter is located in Clifton, NJ, oddly, about a block away from the house of our chapter president, Marilyn Fitz. However, no ACGA member is barred from joining the Empire Chapter, no matter where they live. We invite speakers on Cut Glass and other relevant subjects to our meetings or have excursion meetings to museums or other places of interest to our subject of interest or locale. At present the Empire Chapter has 66 members, a normal meeting will have one-third of those in attendance.
Chapters serve as a regional voice for the ACGA, being a collective sounding board for the ACGA Officers, Directors and working Staff. We enjoy our camaraderie, our common interest in American Cut Glass, our delight and amazement at visiting and seeing other ACGA members collections.
What can one say -- we're a fun group and welcome one and all to the continuing saga of American Cut Glass.
