TOUR #2 Tuesday, July 13, 2010
To the Toledo Glass Pavilion and the Toledo Museum of Art
Cost for this tour includes lunch and a $5 donation to the Glass Pavilion, $50 per person.
For this day’s tour we will travel south to the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion to view the collection of glass housed in this lovely new and unique building. Outstanding examples of cut and engraved glass are on display with the crown jewel, for enthusiasts of American Brilliant cut glass, being the Libbey Glass Company 1904 (St. Louis) Exposition Punch Bowl. Curator of Glass, Dr. Jutta Page, has made special arrangements for additional examples of cut and engraved glass to be on display at the time of our convention. There is a hot glass demonstration at regular intervals. We will have box lunch in the GlasSalon and then visit the main building of the Toledo Museum. Even though access to the Toledo Museums is free, five dollars of your tour fee will be donated to the Glass Pavilion with the compliments of the ACGA for hosting us. Additional contributions by attendees will be cheerfully accepted by the museum, and memberships to support the work of the museum are always available.
The second half of the tour will be to the main portion of the Toledo Museum of Art, directly across the street from the Glass Pavilion. Here you will have the opportunity to either browse on your own or select from various themed tours of the museum. The Toledo Museum has in its collections wonderful examples of ancient art, Impressionist works, both modern Masters and early American, and European art. There is Cloister from the Middle Ages set up with in the museum which is a unique experience. There is a gift shop and cafeteria in the museum. The Toledo Museum website is: www.toledomuseum.org
