999.005  Plate by Edward Mayer Glass Cutters

The plate shown in Figure 1 was cut by Edward Mayer Glass Cutters in a presently unknown pattern.  It was donated to the ACGA Collection in  December of 1998.

A clear glass edge contains eight sets of doubly cut notches, each forming a single tooth.  The areas between the teeth rise to a point.   Two concentric circles form a bar just inside of the clear edge. This bar is divided into four sections, each cut in a cane pattern and separated by a clear glass section which forms the outer end of a bar, also cut in cane,  that extends inward to the edge of a center circle.  These bars divide the area between the circles into four sections, each of which contains an engraved daisy having a cross-hatched center. A semicircle  about each daisy is formed by two feathered stems, joined together at the center circle and extending outward to the outer circle.   The center of the plate, within the inner circle, is a clear hob formed by three sets of parallel cuts that create a set of six bars radiating to the edge of the inner circle which are cut in a cane pattern .

The plate measures 9 ˝” in diameter.
