Favorite Piece of Cut Glass Project

This project is about people and their love of glass.   We're asking you to send us a picture of your favorite piece of glass.  Give us the story as to why it is your favorite piece of glass.  Is it the amazing story of how you got it?  Is it the shape, or artistry of the cutter?   We all love a cut glass story, and especially, we love sharing about glass!  Email your story, include the details of pattern and dimensions because someone will want to know.  acgaweb@gmail.com

In the late 70’s we inherited several pieces of cut glass. As an anniversary present we purchased two green to clear colognes at a local antique shop. Several months later we were at an antique show and saw similar green to clear glass. The dealer, Conrad Nelson, agreed to look at the colognes and immediately offered us “10 times our purchase price.” His wife, Ellie, was startled and questioned his offer. His remark was “they only paid $150.00 for the pair.” She advised us not to sell because we would never get another “buy” like this.

Thus began a wonderful experience of collecting that has lasted over 30 years. And she was right - we’ve never gotten another “buy” like that.
