American Cut Glass Association

The McRae - Jacks of ACGA

ACGA has 19 regional chapters.  The McRae – Jacks Chapter covers Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and some of our friends from Texas.  It was formed over 10 years ago by an avid group of glass collectors and people that liked to share learnings and experiences of collecting.  At the present time, the chapter has about 35 members.   You must be a member of ACGA to belong to a Chapter.

Three meetings are held each year: one in the fall, one in the spring, and one during the annual ACGA Convention.  Meeting dates are mainly on Saturday, vary in order to accommodate the largest number of members, antique shows that may be in the area, football games, and other activities of interest.  Meetings rotate between the New Orleans area, Monroe/Shreveport area, Jackson (Mississippi) area, and Baton Rouge area.

Meetings begin prior to lunch with a social gathering, followed by a delicious lunch at the home of the meeting hosts or nearby restaurant (we may not be the largest chapter but we are the chapter with the best food), followed by a program and meeting.  As most meetings are held in member homes with some meetings held at a location having special interest (such as Rau's Antiques in New Orleans or the Stark House/Museum in Orange, Texas) and available luncheon facilities.  Members most often provide the programs with talks regarding various aspects of collecting and identification.  In addition, members may bring glass or books for sale/exchange with other members.  Annual dues for the McRae – Jacks Chapter are $10 for single members and $15 for couples.
